Reporting for Duty?

{Captain Carrington}


Atlas returns to the Barracks and looks around. He smiles a little as he sees Captain Carrington, his Commanding Officer in the back of the Barracks. He walks over to him and then says. I have an errand to run for another Captain but I do not believe that it is time sensitive, so with that in mind, Atlas Theophilus, reporting for duty Sir. Atlas then waits for Carrington's response hoping that he didn't come across as trying to deflect responsibility on to someone else.

Captain Carrington hears what he has to say and smirks. "So, the one Subordinate that I've had no choice but to look up to returns." He is saying this in reference to Atlas' height. "This Duty is to take place over all previous as it involves an investigation of the Hydra that recently attacked the city. We would like to see if you can gather any scales or anything of the sort that is from the creature to try and trace any magic on it that might have been used to make it attack the city.

For this mission you will have two subordinate privates to help you search. You will be in command of this search unit. Also, in order for you to be in charge of them you need to be of a fitting rank. Unfortunately until I see that you are again combat ready I cannot re-assign you rank of Staff Sergeant, however I can assign you the rank of Specialist with the promise of a raise in rank if you complete this mission. As a result, your pay from this mission will be the base pay for a Specialist per mission until you raise in rank.

Here is a briefing to let you know where to start and an account of the battle. It's great to have you back." He then returns to paperwork.

Thank you sir.  says Atlas as he takes the briefing and details of the fight.  He exits the barracks before reading about it and then the details of the fight.  It was quite an incredible read actually.  The hydra sounded horrifyingly strong but then reading further in it is surprising how one Peacekeeper alone was able to drive it off after a single Captain's valiant fight.  He decides to immediately head towards the area that was described in the briefing.

Atlas returns to the barracks after heading there directly from the field. The private is right behind him and still looks depressed. Atlas places the scale and tooth pieces on the table. Atlas Theophilus reporting back from duty Sir! We ran into resistance from local bandits and the absent private was killed Sir! I'm requesting a brief break from duty to meet up with an acquaintance that is waiting for me at Glaidus' Workshop and then to go and get the private's body to bring him back for a proper burial.

Captain Carrington frowns. Mission well done I guess then. Here's your money and your leave is granted. I'll alert the undertaker to start on the grave. He then hands the pouch of gold to Atlas and goes back to his work.

Thank you Sir! says Atlas as he takes the pouch containing his pay of one thousand gold. He then turns and starts to leave, realizing that Taycee was either going to be gone or pissed off. Either way he wouldn't blame her as he had been gone for quite some time. Having already taken the knife out of his wound earlier he would now patch it with a bandage from the supplies there at the Barracks. He then exits the barracks to head towards Glaidus'.
