Scouring the Battlefield for Evidence

The bandit screams out in pain as Atlas wrenches at his ankle. He squirms under him but he isn't strong enough to break the grapple that Atlas is applying to him.

Atlas continues his assault on the bandits' ankle, letting his aggression out as he continues wrenching on the ankle. Surrender yourself, or I won't stop until I tear it off. Atlas was being more aggressive than usual because of the bandit having killed his subordinate and then taunting him about it. He was planning on teaching this bandit a lesson and making it permanent if he had his way. He had zero tolerance for the bandits around Mendefera even though in most cases Atlas was a compassionate man.

(Again, break roll thingy thing)

Eventually the screaming from the bandit stops as the pain is too much for him and he passes out from it.

(Make sure to search him, but don't do a roll, this is a fixed loot.)

After the bandit passes out Atlas ceases the wrenching and lets go of his leg, taking his own foot off from his back. He then searches both of the bandits that were still there in an effort to see if they had anything on them that pertained to why the bandits had been attacking and maybe even if they had stolen goods or something from when the elemental hydra had attacked in this area before.

On one bandit Atlas would find a chip of fang and a piece of scale. On the other he would find another piece of scale. It looks like this is all from the elemental hydra, as if they were on the same kind of mission Atlas had been on, regardless this meant Atlas had fulfilled his mission and could now return to the Barracks. (The other private is to follow you, you have one post of travel back to the city.)

Atlas sighs in relief a little as he finds the items that he assumes are from the Hydra. Alright private. Let's head back to the barracks and report in. On the bandits I found what we came here for which is why we hadn't been able to find anything earlier. He then begins to head back towards Mendefera's gate.

The private looks a little shell shocked but he nods in agreement to Atlas and then follows behind him.

Atlas leaves the city with Taycee behind him. It isn't too far from the city gates. It was quite a gruesome blow to the throat. Intentional that it was that gruesome too. He taunted me after he did it. Atlas' eyes are kind of blank as he says this, remembering what had happened earlier that day. He wondered if all privates were as unprepared as those two had been. If so, they needed to change how things were being run.

Taycee followed Atlas out of the city, listening to his story of the attack. She followed him she would tell him later that she had done her own fair share of neck cutting while as a assassin but it wasn't her most preferred method of killing. But this would be best to keep as a secret from a member of the gaurd. She also felt uneasy about being on the outside of the city with out a proper bow. She looked at the trees around them checking for birds.... or a sign of passive life, some thing that could warn them of an attack. she readied a arrow in her bow, while following atlas.

As they continue along it's the crows pecking at the dead body that Atlas notices first. He shoos the birds off and picks up the dead body, throwing it over his shoulder. What bothers me the most about this is how unprepared the Privates were. They should have had more training than what they did. They were so green that it was pathetic. They didn't really stand a chance, right from the beginning of the fight.

Taycee followed atlas as he spoke her bow still drawn and arrow at the ready, she had learned to never drop her guard for a long time outside the towns in the recent times. She mulled over his words, it was true she had noticed some guards where getting younger recruits it might be best if they had a training school for them. Green horns wasnt even a word for them they where like newborn pups taken away from the mother first thing, defenseless and blind to the outside world around them.

(As Atlas picks up the body, some flint and steel falls out from the Private's pocket.)

Atlas hears something fall and sees the flint and steel fall down. He kneels and picks it up before continuing on towards Mendefera. He is now silent as he thinks of what he is going to say to the Captain when he gets back in to the city. He was definitely going to have a few things to say about the lack of preparedness in the current new recruits. Hell, the captains training the recruits used to be scarier than any bandit that he'd ever seen.

Dropping her bow and arrow for a moment while she followed atlas she writes quickly it wasn't as neat as her earlier notes but it would be easy to still read. she rushed up to show him the note. ~ The guards might have not had the time to train recruits there is a lot of them these days, not to mention they might have joined just to find people to fight the monsters off. There are many reasons why they might be unprepared. Its near impossible for every one to be ready for any situation like what happened here you could have been killed by what ever caused all this damage if it came back. You would have been unprepared for such a creature.~ she held her bow and arrow in one hand all notched and ready to pull back and fire if any thing popped its ugly head out.

As Taycee prepared her bow and arrow she would likely notice a vial of some kind of oil on the ground near her.

Atlas reads it and then thinks for a second as he was still a little irritated at what had happened.  He needed a second to temper his response as he didn't want to say something mean or offensive to Taycee in response to her note.  No, there isn't an excuse for this.  It is true that not everybody can be prepared for everything.  But this fight, against bandits of that low of a skill... anyone with ANY level of combat training should be able to fend them off.
