    First Aid Leveling Guide

First Aid - Everyone should have this, it is in addition to your 2 main choices. This is the use of bandages and splints. No magic, no herbs, just basic first aid care and CPR. At level 25, you are able to do stitches. At level 50, you get a permanent 10 points to Health. At level 100, you are able to stop blood loss from a mortally fatal wound with just bandages (i.e. lost limb)

    Bandage and Suture Materials:

    Cotton:

    Cotton Bandage –
Stops 1 point of bleeding damage per post (how many posts is equal to bleeding damage posts). Max of 7 posts before bandage change is needed. Bandages should be about 2” wide and a minimum of 1’ long
Heals 1 point of damage for 3 posts. If removed, healing will stop at whatever post it was removed (1 post = 1 point, 2 posts = 2 points)
Cotton Suture – Stops a max of 4 points of bleeding damage per post, anything that does more than 4 points will have the remaining points continue on (6 points of bleeding damage per post + Cotton Suture = 4 points stopped and 2 points that remain), permanent effect for that wound, must use Skin or Meat Needles

    Linen:
Linen Bandage – stops 6 points of bleeding damage per post (how many posts is equal to bleeding damage posts). Max of 10 posts before bandage change is needed.

    Silk
    Silk Bandage - 27
Silk Suture – Stops 7 points of bleeding damage per post, permanent effect for that wound, can use Skin or Meat Needles. Silk is much stronger than Cloth, making it hold better.

    Celestial Cloth

    Celestial Cloth Suture -

    Surgical Steel
Surgical Steel Suture – Reattaches bones together (it’s what they use to sew up your sternum after open heart surgery). Pliable yet very strong, will need something to cut the needle off the end when done. Permanent effect for that wound. Can only use Bone Needles. Can be made by a blacksmith with a blacksmithing level of 75. (you will still need to sew up the meat and skin after reattaching the bone)

    Needles -
Skin Needles – Smallest, half inch long tip to tip, as thin as mechanical pencil led, semicircular. Used with suture to close the skin, minimalizing potential scars. Can be made by a blacksmith with a blacksmithing level of 35

Meat Needles – Medium in size, 1in long tip to tip, as thin as regular pencil led, semicircular. Used with suture to bring your actual meat together, like muscle tendon, and fatty tissue. Can be made by a blacksmith with a blacksmithing level of 25. Do not have to use a Skin Needle afterwards if you don’t mind an ugly scar.

Bone Needles – Largest, 2in long tip to tip, as thin as a feather quill, half-circle. Used with Surgical Steel Suture to bring bone together. Has to be extremely sharp and strong to cut into the bone. Can be made by a blacksmith with a blacksmithing level of 75

Level Guide: this is the old one, to be modified

    Level 15
You can bandage a wound and tie it around to make it stay put, no more holding it in place. If you have Tailoring/Leatherworking, you can use Cloth Sutures at this level
One bandage (any kind) Cures 2 points of damage

    Level 20
You learn CPR, try not to misplace your hands and break the xiphoid process causing a punctured lung. You may break ribs, but ribs will heal if they live. Can maintain CPR for 2 posts before taking a 1 post break, hopefully you have a friend to help trade off.
One bandage (any kind) Cures 4 points of damage

    Level 25
Able to use cloth sutures to sew gashes and cuts.
One bandage (any kind) Cures 6 points of damage

    Level 30
Able to clean and reuse bandages properly without risk of cross-contamination from two different people (without use of Herbalism - Antiseptics). To clean properly, takes boiling water in water for two posts
One bandage (any kind) Cures 8 points of damage

    Level 35
Combine current Bandage level with herbs to create salves. If you do not have Herbalism, you do not pick or grind or mix these herbs, buy them or have them given to you from someone premade. Effect dependent on which herb is used. Can only use Analgesic herbs at the same level as your First Aid level (ex. First aid lvl 35 can only use Herbs pickable/usable to someone with Herbalism at lvl 35).
One bandage (any kind) Cures 10 points of damage

    Level 40
Able to use Reinforced Cloth Bandages.
One bandage (any kind) Cures 12 points of damage

    Level 45
Tailor/Leatherworkers are now able to use Silk sutures.
One bandage (any kind) Cures 14 points of damage

    Level 50
Can splint a broken bone. Requires 2 Basic Cloth Bandages and at least one straight item the length of the limb (can be a straight unbending branch, a sword, or scabbard, etc.)
Simple broken bones take 2 weeks game time to heal, compound takes 8 weeks. A First Aid person splinting it and tending to it makes a healer's cost cut in half
Can make a crutch or something like that to get you to the nearest town
One bandage (any kind) Cures 16 points of damage

    Level 60
    Able to use Silk sutures
One bandage (any kind) Cures 18 points of damage

    Level 70
You no longer break ribs when performing CPR, you’re that good. Can maintain CPR for 4 posts before taking a 1 post break.
One bandage (any kind) Cures 20 points of damage

    Level 80
Combine current Bandage level with herbs to create salves. If you do not have Herbalism, you do not pick or grind or mix these herbs, buy them or have them given to you from someone premade. Effect dependent on which herb is used, can use Any herbs (poison, cure, Tranquilizer/Sedative, etc.) at the same level as your First Aid level (ex. First aid lvl 80 can only use Herbs pickable/usable to someone with Herbalism at lvl 80).
One bandage (any kind) Cures 25 points of damage

    Level 90
Tailor/Leatherworkers are able to use Surgical Steel Sutures.
One bandage (any kind) Cures 30 points of damage

    Level 100
Able to use Surgical Steel Sutures. You are able to stop blood loss from a mortally fatal wound with just bandages (i.e. lost limb). Still will need to reattach the limb… but will not die from blood loss.
Cuts all broken bone heal times in half (1 week for normal break, 4 for compound)
One bandage (any kind) Cures 35 points of damage.
