    Back to Mendefera, yet again.

Coming down from the pass and into the forest Sidney is relieved to be back in he forests of Humus again. He plans on heading back to Mendefera and maybe entering the colliseum. He is making pretty good time though it would be a lot better time if he had a horse. The weather here was better than it had been in the pass, here it was just misty as opposed to borderline storming like it had been in the pass.

Sidney continues along through the light woods at the feet of the great mountain range that was between Tempestas and Humus. Sidney knew that this forest was pretty thick further in. It was usually another good place for an ambush. He was worried about the prospect of being ambushed again as being a lone traveler in this world was never a good thing. He did however enjoy the serenity of the forest and being on his own.

Sidney continues along the road as the forest around him gets thicker continually. This was the section of it that he was worried about as it was a place that he had heard many stories of there having been ambushes there. He quickens his pace hoping to get through it a little bit quicker and hopefully make it through without becoming another one of those stories. The mist wasn't letting up and was turning to rain which made things a little more miserable.

(Please note that this is not like the mythological version. This is the race version. So it's strong but not like in myths.)

As Sidney walks through the forest he is indeed ambushed, but not by normal bandits. A massive figure steps out in front of Sidney. It's a male minotaur standing 9 feet tall and carrying an axe. "You shouldn't have come here hume, because now you're never going to leave. The minotaur starts slowly walking towards Sidney. Suddenly it darts forward with surprising speed and attacks with a massive downward strike.

Sidney stops in his tracks as this unfriendly Minotaur appears in front of him. He immediately pulls out his Plasite Cutter as it starts approaching. When it charges forward and attacks Sidney rolls to the left to avoid being hit. He then activates the Plasite Cutter while slashing to the side. His attack is aimed at around the Minotaur's knee. With any luck that might be enough to stop it's attacking him, but he somehow doubted it.

The Minotaur grunts as it misses and then grunts again louder as Sidney hits it. It goes to get up but can't as the attack had stunned him. He grunts continually and snorts a couple of times as he is trying to move.

Sidney is in disbelief that he actually stunned the minotaur. Not one to miss an opportunity he stands up straight and does a downward slash trying to deal as much damage as possible. Sidney still doesn't understand how the weapon works as he doesn't see the damage but the damage had obviously been done in the previous blow to the Minotaur. Sidney is hoping to end this soon as he doubted it would be good if the Minotaur actually landed a hit on him.

    (6 side for stun chance)

The minotaur collapses to the ground as Sidney's second strike connects directly onto the stunned minotaur.

Sidney stares in disbelief at the felled Minotaur. He starts questioning his morality as he had pretty well overkilled the Minotaur and dealt the killing blow on a stunned opponent. The sword was stronger than he had originally thought. He then tries to clear his mind. He walks over to the Minotaur and searches his body for any gear that might be useful figuring that the minotaur should have something useful on him somewhere, after all, you don't plan ambushes without making sure that you can survive the attack. Or maybe the Minotaur had just been used to relying on his strength.

Sidney gathers the gold and then starts heading back towards Mendefera. That went smoother than it should have and Sidney was hoping that he hadn't used up all of his luck right there because he still had a long ways to go before her got back to the Capital. At this point he wasn't even sure what he was going to do when he got to the Capital. He did have thoughts about entering the arena to really test his Plasite Cutter though.

Continuing along Sidney passes a small pond that looks really serene. If it wasn't for the fact that this pond is in the middle of nowhere it would have been a good place for a picnic. Sidney was worried about what lived in the pond though. Many lakes and ponds in the wilderness hid dangers. Of course if this pond was really shallow it probably would be safe but he couldn't tell how deep it was just from passing it.

(So this will be five out of fifteen)

As Sidney continues along, now past the pond, the road is sort of following an outlet stream from the pond. The stream is really shallow and in the rapid sections of it on occasion you can see fish jumping to try and get further upstream. Eventually the stream veers away from the road while the path continues through the forest. Sidney is noticing that there is a bit of a downhill section that is probably the end of the forested foothills.

As Sidney goes down the forested slope it isn't long before he is walking through a section of dead forest. It's kind of creepy and it makes him wonder why everything here is dead. Sidney picks up his pace again to try and get out of here as soon as possible. He doesn't like the feel. There isn't a swamp here or any noticable reason as to why all the trees are so dead, in fact no plants thrive here at all.
